28on27's Perfect Gifting Cookies!

During the holidays, most people stress about gift giving...... Shopping for immediate family members is hard enough, but when you throw in the added pressure of buying a gift for your daughter’s dance teacher, the next door neighbors, and the only barista within 25 miles who can make your perfect cup of coffee, things can get intense. It can also get expensive. Here at 28on27, we believe that cookies solve this problem. Nothing says “I appreciate you” more than soft little balls of sugar, chocolate, and flour. Cookies are inexpensive, delicious (hopefully), and they show the receiver that you care enough about them to sweat and slave in the kitchen all day. For the “cookie gift” to work, however, they must be homemade. Not giving a gift is better than handing over a box of Oreos. Place the homemade cookies on a festive paper plate, wrap the plate in cellophane, and deck it with a bow and personalized gift tag. Wrapping the cookies will not only make the cookies look prettier, but it’ll contain any crumbs, sprinkles, or frosting as well.  We’ve included 28on27’s popular family favorite, Hershey’s Candy Cane Blossoms. They’re sure to please anyone on your list! If you decide to bake them, please bring them to your photo shoot. We’d love to taste them! 28on27 wishes you happy baking! Candy Cane Blossoms You’ll need: 48 Hershey’s Kisses Brand Candy Cane Mint Candies ½ cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened 1 cup granulated sugar 1 egg 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract 2 cups all-purpose flour ¼ teaspoon baking soda ¼ teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons milk Festive sprinkles or red/green sugar Directions 1.    Heat oven to 350°F. Remove wrappers from candies. 2.    Beat butter, granulated sugar, egg and vanilla in large bowl until well blended. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; add alternately with milk to butter mixture, beating until well blended. 3.    Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in sprinkles, red sugar, granulated sugar, powdered sugar or a combination of any of the sugars. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. 4.    Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned and cookie is set. Remove from oven; cool 2 to 3 minutes. Press a candy piece into center of each cookie. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. Yields about 4 dozen cookies. Delish!! Thanks to! Contributing writer Julia Kirsten
