Eco Friendly Wedding Tips!

Summer is almost over and Wedding Season is in full swing, according to THE KNOT the most popular months for weddings are June through October, which means a lot of brides-to-be are in the chaos of full-on planning mode right about now. Just planning a wedding is a monumental task. If you’d like your wedding to be eco-friendly, as well, that makes it even tougher.

Here are three economical ways to be nicer to planet Earth while pulling off the big day.

INVITATIONS

We’ll start with the hard one: invitations. There’s a lot of paper involved. To avoid slaying an entire rain forest while also giving back to the planet, consider “plantable invitations.”
Plantable invitations, like those available from Forever Fiances feature recycled paper embedded with wildflower seeds. They cost about as much as invitations printed on recycled paper sans the seeds, so you can encourage tree hugging without breaking the bank.

Alternately, to save even more, you can design your own and have them printed on recycled paper.

FLOWERS

What could be more natural than flowers? They’re literally plants!
Sadly, a lot of chemicals are routinely used to grow commercial flowers, and those chemical sprays and pesticides aren’t doing Mother Nature any favors. To make sure your flowers are untainted, choose varieties that are seasonal and sustainable, and create the arrangements yourself. A practical wedding has a great guide to get you started.

If you’d rather not take on such a big project, consider an organic florist, like Gardenia Organic right here in NYC.

PICTURES

Like invitations, the issue here is paper. The more you use, the fewer trees there are to hug. But, this one is fairly easy.

Technology to the rescue!

Most professional photographers use digital cameras these days. Whether you’re hiring a pro or enlisting the help of a gifted friend, stay away from traditional or disposable cameras. Digital pictures allow you to print only what you want, saving both paper and money.
