The BEST apple crumb pie EVER! NEWSLETTER October 6
It’s apple picking season! And if you are an apple picking virgin or seasoned veteran we recommend you to go and be at one with nature!
There’s nothing more fun then munching on a crunchy sweet apple straight from the tree.
For a mellow experience check out Dr Davies Farm, you’ll need a car but its totally worth it.
Now what to do with the apples once you’ve scored them?
Here’s a recipe for Apple Crumb Pie that is #OMG and #YUM. (We’ve tested this, and its sooo freaking good.. the picture is the real deal)
You will need..
1 (9 inch) pie shell
6 cups thinly sliced apples 3/4 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Vanilla ( we added this to the recipe, up to you)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons butter
And then…
.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190
degrees C).
.
Slice and Peel Apples (as thin as possible)
.
Place sliced apples in a large
bowl.
.
In a small bowl, mix together white
sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, cinnamon, and vanilla.
.
Sprinkle mixture over apples. Toss
until apples are evenly coated. Spoon mixture into pastry shell.
.
In a small bowl mix together 1/2
cup flour and brown sugar. Cut in butter or margarine until mixture is crumbly.
(We used our hands, but after the second try realized a potato masher will do
the trick)
.
Sprinkle mixture over apple
filling. Cover top loosely with aluminum foil.
Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes.
Remove foil and bake an additional 25 to 30 minutes,
until top is golden brown.
